Plant Overview
The Cashew Fruit Plant (popularly known as Kaju) is a highly valued tropical evergreen tree prized for its dual-harvest bounty. It produces a unique, bright red or golden-yellow juicy fruit known as the cashew apple, beneath which hangs the world-famous, shell-protected cashew nut. The cashew apple offers an exotic, sweet, and refreshingly tangy juice, while the kernel below yields a premium, creamy nut once properly roasted and shelled. Boasting large, leathery, dark green oval leaves and high heat tolerance, this premium grafted variety has a compact growth habit and begins bearing fruit significantly sooner than traditional seedlings. It is an exceptional choice for spacious backyards, home orchards, and sunny tropical garden layouts.
Growing Requirements
● Sunlight: Full sun (requires at least 6 hours of unshaded, direct daily sunlight for prolific flowering and fruit set)
● Watering: Low to moderate; water deeply when the top layer of soil dries out completely, as it is highly drought-resilient once established
● Soil: Extremely loose, porous, sandy or well-draining laterite soil; sensitive to heavy, waterlogged clay
● Fertilizing: Feed with organic compost, cow manure, or a balanced slow-release fruit fertilizer every 3–4 weeks during the spring growing season
● Placement: Perfect for spacious backyards, home orchards, sunny open slopes, and large, well-draining outdoor spaces
Bring home a Cashew Fruit Plant and enjoy its unique sweet cashew apples, premium nut harvests, and hardy tropical canopy that bring value and variety to your edible garden collection.
