Plant Overview
The Kosseri Mango Plant, also known as Kossery or Thalachenna, is an exceptional, indigenous rare variety originating from Karimannoor in Thodupuzha, Kerala. Propagated by pioneering local farmer Mr. Kurian George Kosseril, this extraordinary cultivar is celebrated as one of the largest and most profuse-bearing mango varieties in the region. Individual fruits routinely grow to a massive scale, weighing an impressive 1.5 to 2 kilograms each! This premium grafted selection develops a perfectly balanced, medium-sized architectural canopy that is highly wind-resistant and less susceptible to diseases. The giant oval fruits ripen into a vibrant golden-yellow hue, revealing an incredibly juicy, smooth, fiberless pulp packed with a rich, honeyed tropical sweetness and deep floral aroma. Due to its impressive yield and majestic stature, it represents the ultimate collector’s prize for backyards and open orchard plots.
Growing Requirements
● Sunlight: Full sun (demands 6–8 hours of strong, direct daily sunlight for strong branches and high sugar content)
● Watering: Moderate; water deeply when the topsoil layer dries out completely, avoiding water stagnation
● Soil: Loose, highly fertile, well-draining loamy or laterite soil with a slightly acidic to neutral pH
● Fertilizing: Feed with balanced NPK or micronutrient-rich organic manure/vermicompost every 2–3 months
● Placement: Best suited for spacious sunny backyards, farm plantations, open lawns, and orchards
Bring home a Kosseri Mango Plant and enjoy its legendary fruits, exceptionally sweet fiberless pulp, and robust, heavy-yielding tree structure that brings outstanding tropical abundance and heritage value to your estate.
